- THE ROLE -

A brief summary of the role and the main responsibilities
The Senior Academic Quality Officer will be based in the Quality Assurance team of the Academic Office. They will provide specialist support for a broad range of administrative duties relating to central quality assurance and other functions undertaken by the team. The Officer will have a key role in administering external examiner appointments, induction, workload agreements, payments, and monitoring submission of their annual reports. In undertaking this work, they will liaise extensively with staff from the Institutes and professional units and with external examiners/advisers. The Officer will work to implement, embed, and monitor the University’s regulatory framework, quality assurance procedures and academically focused policies so that quality standards are continually maintained and enhanced.

The post holder will also focus on the administration and tracking of areas such as validation-related activities (including support for modifications, proof-reading programme documents and maintaining repositories for Published Programme Information together with module repositories). The Officer will support administrative preparations for external reviews/inspections. The Officer will also be required to service committees and/or working groups, write formal minutes and may be asked to produce straightforward reports for the committees.
A proficiency in the use of Microsoft packages is an important requirement of the post. In addition, a high level of ‘attention to detail’ and accuracy is essential. The post holder will need to have and maintain sufficient knowledge of relevant administration processes to enable them to undertake their work proactively within the team.
